Nature Care
"In reality, Nature is nothing but God's visible form which we can behold and experience through our senses. Indeed, by loving and serving Nature, we are worshipping God Himself." —Amma

When Amma was still a girl, She became so indrawn in Her quest for Truth that for a period of time She became utterly indifferent to the world around Her. Living outdoors, oblivious to heat or cold, wind or rain, it was the animals who looked after Her and became her close friends. Her family had more or less abandoned Her and were against Her spiritual life, but the animals adored Her and did their best to make Her as happy and comfortable as possible. No matter what the weather, they always stayed close to Her and protected Her. Amma says that the animals seemed to understand Her much better than any human being ever had. |
Animals brought food for Her—an eagle dropped fish into Her lap; a family cow each day presented its udder to Her for milk; a dog brought packets of food—and watched over Her in Her deeper states of meditation and longing.
Amma has always looked upon animals as Her children and Nature itself as Her own Mother. Now, with GreenFriends, Amma has given Her children an opportunity to serve Nature and cultivate an attitude of love and respect for Mother Earth.
