Amrita Kripa Hospital, Mysuru received a national award in recognition of its 0% transmission of HIV to children born to HIV positive mothers. The award was bestowed on 7 July 2017, at a national conference on the “Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis” in New Delhi. The National Consultation was hosted by NACO – the National AIDS Control Organisation and the National Health Mission. Amrita Kripa Hospital was among 12 private hospitals across the country recognized at the conference for their service to society. The children born at Amrita Kripa tested HIV negative at 18 months. The hospital’s 0% transmission stands in contrast to 5% HIV transmission risk seen globally for children born to HIV positive mothers.
