Be in harmony with Nature; Nature’s patience is not weakness

11 Feb 2025, Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu – Bharata Yatra 2025

Amma arrived in Nagercoil after completing her program in Thiruvananthapuram. As soon as she reached the venue, she lovingly served prasad to the tour group members and volunteers, singing bhajans and sharing moments of joy with laughter, jokes, and reflections on Gita slokas.

The program was held at Amrita University’s scenic campus, nestled amidst the Western Ghats and surrounded by lush greenery and playful monkeys. The serene atmosphere added to the spiritual energy of the gathering.

The evening program commenced at 6:30 pm with a ceremonial welcome, where distinguished guests garlanded Amma. The esteemed guests included:

Swami Chaitanyananda of Vivekananda Ashram, Vellimalai; Swami Nijananda of Chinmaya Mission, Kumaracoil; B. Karthikeyan, District Judge of Kanyakumari; Commodore Anilkumar from INS Kattabomman (Indian Navy); and Nivedita Bhide, President of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari.

Addressing the gathering, Amma stressed the urgent need for humanity to reconnect with Nature and each other:
“Every calamity—be it a pandemic, natural disaster, or climate change—urges humankind to cultivate three things: Cooperation, Companionship, and Communion. We need to live in cooperation with our fellow human beings, in companionship with Nature, and in communion with God. Failure to do so—even a little—will negatively impact all aspects of our lives.”

Being the full moon day, the moon rose in the sky as Amma spoke about nature. It was a beautiful sight. Amma emphasized that humanity must take responsibility for the damage done to the Earth:
“Humankind has been tormenting Mother Nature for generations. All this time, she has patiently forgiven us, continuing to pour her compassion and love upon us. But this won’t continue much longer.”

“We have mistaken Mother Nature’s compassion and patience for weaknesses. We have forgotten that Nature is a powerful force—just as capable of retribution as redemption. Therefore, let us learn to bow our heads in humility before Nature. Let us treat Nature with love and respect.”

Amma then guided everyone in Manasa Puja and Ma-Om meditation in Tamil, the local language, followed by a session of bhajans mostly in Tamil.

Amma then began giving darshan, embracing thousands of devotees throughout the night. During darshan time, students of Amrita Institutions presented various cultural programs, including the traditional “Villadichampattu”, a musical storytelling performance where young boys narrated Amma’s life story in a captivating way. There was Annadānam – free food for all the devotees

Amma completed darshan at 5:47 am the next morning, and without resting, proceeded directly to Madurai for the Brahmasthanam Festival, the next stop in Bharata Yatra 2025.
