June 30 – July 1, 2009 — Coralville, Iowa, United States
Amma’s 7th annual visit to Iowa took place on June 30 and July 1st. On the first morning, Amma was welcomed by Dr. Arnold Menezes, Neurosurgeon at the University Iowa in Iowa City. “Amma’s loving embrace is not just a hug,” he said. “She transmits her inner power and held into us in those few minutes to rejuvenate and uplift one. She is a light in the midst of darkness. We are grateful that Amma is with us today.”
A surprise treat took place the second morning when Grammy Award-winning country and bluegrass musician Jim Lauderdale performed three original compositions inspired by Amma, one of which he’d wrote only the previous night. He thanked Amma during his performance, crediting Amma as a co-writer.
