"A Lotus With a Thousand Petals"

Tuesday, 16 March 2004 - New Delhi

Shri. M.S. Ramachandran, the chairman of Indian Oil Corporation, came to see Amma at Her New Delhi ashram in 2004. Amritapuri.org had the chance to talk with him after he had Amma's darshan.

Can you tell us about the first time you met Amma?

"I first met Amma in 1998 in Mumbai. A good friend had told me that She was a divine person. Meeting Amma was a completely new experience for me. I still remember Her radiant smile. I felt enveloped in an ocean of love and peace. In Amma's presence, I found that all my stiffness, my formality, everything spontaneously melted away.

"I have now seen and interacted with Amma's organization closely for the last five years. The image of a lotus with a thousand petals comes to mind. A lotus that is growing in size and radiance, blooming more and more every day, touching many people's lives.

"Amma does not turn anyone away, no matter what time of day it is. Last time, I met Amma at 1:00 am. A friend in London had mentioned how he had seen Amma treat everyone the same, the important people of society, as well as the poor people, the downtrodden ones. For Amma, all are her children. She is like the river Ganges, giving succour to all."

Would you encourage your colleagues and other IOC employees to meet Amma?

"I see them as Amma's children, not as my employees. I pray that Amma's blessings reach them all."
