Mata Amritanandamayi Math runs 53 schools from pre-primary to high schools throughout India. These schools provide standard education through enthusiastic, activity oriented teaching methods. An integral part of of the school’s holistic approach to learning is to instill positive values. Students are encouraged to practice selflessness, compassion and respect for others. Amrita Sanskrit Higher Secondary School (ASHSS)
At Parippally, Kollam is one of the largest schools in Kerala to teach Sanskrit as the first language, and is one of the best schools in its district. In 1992 when the Government first introduced higher secondary courses in the private sector, ASHSS was the only school offering Sanskrit as one of the optional languages. The school is of a very high calibre and has the test scores to prove it. Recently, The percentage who passed the SSLC Exam was 92%, making ASHSS the second best school in the Kollam district. This was a remarkable achievement for a school where the majority of its 2500 students come from the most socially and economically disadvantaged areas.
Industrial Training College
The Industrial Training College (ITC) provides training in ten trades for 500 teenagers in every academic year. The Centere strives to create self reliant and confident adolescents so that they can take up their trade in a wide range of work environments or become self employed. After the tsunami disasters, it opened its door, free of charge, to hundreds of local youths who were invited by Amma to train there, to help them rebuild their lives after the disaster.
Amrita Speech and Hearing Improvement School
ASHIS is one of the select special schools for the hearing impaired that scientifically teaches hearing impaired children to speak. Through their hard work coupled with the scientific method adopted, the students have a hundred percent pass rate in the Secondary School Leaving Examinations.
